Case study: Boral Design Awards

Project:
Boral hosts an annual competition in architectural building design, to recognise and celebrate exciting developments in the design of residential buildings. The Boral Design Awards were created with today’s building aesthetics in mind, echoing the sleek, sophisticated style of modern architectural design, as well as Boral’s colour palette.

Requirements:
The competition required a line of awards that fit Boral’s corporate image as well as a close attention to the materials used.

Solution:
The awards were comprised of crystal glass, with the first price category awards backed with gold leaf. Each was implemented to echo Boral’s design aesthetic -minimalist, utilitarian, self-supporting, yet elegant – and were presented by Jamie Durie and architectural writer Matt Ward.

Project:
Deloitte sought personalised awards of an impressive size and shape, with eye-catching depth.

Requirements:
Each was intended for an outstanding employee and their exceptional efforts in the workplace. The awards each weighed 4kg, conveying the weight of the individual’s highly successful performance. Cradled atop a perforated metal stand, the award makes a strong impression upon viewers.

Solution:
The award is branded with Deloitte corporate imagery and, combined with the recipients name etched and painted a deep matte black, results in an award that is impressive and professional.

Project:
TNT required an award designed and produced that recognised the highest-performing salesperson on a quarterly basis.

Requirements:
An award was needed to inspire the recipient and echo TNT’s corporate aesthetic.

Solution:
Striking colour schemes and an eye-catching shape to the award ensured an unforgettable award scheme. A mix of plastic and crystal create visual depth.

The Sydney Comedy Festival required striking, bright awards to reflect the colour of the event, for the best performers of the year.

Requirements:
Each trophy needed to be unique, personalised, yet reproducible for multiple winners.

Solution:
The thick crystal of each award creates depth, while a subtle orange and red back and clear text makes a strong impression on viewers, and reflects the energy of the event.
